Hi everyone. I’m Kym Dowling from Dowling Homes and thanks for visiting our website. I thought I’d spend a few moments just to explain to those who are thinking of building, what can be a very frustrating part of the whole building process, and that is the council approvals.
Councils can take between three and six months to grant development approval and added to that, if you’re wanting to build in a heritage sensitive area such as Mitcham or Unley, that process can take even longer.
So if you’re thinking of building in the early months of next year, February, March, April – you need to also consider that councils will be closed for submissions and approvals during December and January as well.
So once again, if you’re wanting to build early next year the time to act is right now. It’s August. We need to backtrack it seven or eight months so that when all your paperwork, documentation is completed and development approval is granted, we’re good to go.
During that time is an ideal opportunity to also get you a fixed priced quotation. So all the T’s are crossed, all the I’s are dotted – when development approval is granted we’re good to go.
