Hi everyone, Kym Dowling here and welcome to our final video on our project here in Malvern. We’re very proud to show you the finished product now of this job that started some time ago and I’ll just do a bit of a run-through of what we’ve done for the owners.
It started off with an extensive rear build area and internal alteration and now this is the finished product. Iit’s been a fantastic experience for us and rather than talking about it for ages, I’m just going to show you, room by room, what we’ve done.
It starts with this al fresco area out the back – a lovely covered area that features timber ceiling and polished concrete floors as well. The polished concrete not only is evident in the al fresco but actually goes right through into all the living areas within the build area.
We’re standing in the family room – as you can see, quite a large amount of space for the family.
The lovely concrete floors have been ground and polished. They’ve given the property that sort of industrial warehouse look.
The family room leads onto the very large kitchen with 2-pack cabinet doors and stone bench tops — very simple, clean lines. We have a very large amount of glass that is evident throughout the build area as well so it’s letting in a lot of natural light.
There’s a lovely walk-in pantry just at the rear of the kitchen which has plenty of storage space and also has a cabinet for the freezer.
So we’ll move from this area onto the dining platform. So this is once again a different element to the build. This was originally the kitchen area and playroom, that’s all been demolished now and we’ve got it its place, a dining area and a separate, smaller, private lounge room with a stone wall on the back that was the original rear wall of the home that’s now had the plaster removed and the feature made of the original bluestone wall. We’ve introduced another feature wall on this side out of old red bricks, just to introduce that sort of earth feel every now and then to this very modern, white, clean line look.
We’ll just shift quickly now through to this main bathroom, and this main bathroom has limestone floors, stone bath and a lovely Moroccan plaster. This is a special product that’s imported that actually replaces tiles, so it’s a waterproof plaster that looks very, very silky and it’s just got that earthy feel about it. So this bathroom has turned out beautifully, we’re very happy with the end result.
We’ll just show you the other bathroom that was built off the existing bedroom. And what we did was convert this room into a master suite that was on the other side of the house. We created a build out the side of the property which incorporates this lovely walk-in wardrobe – lots of storage and that in turn leads into the ensuite bathroom. Once again, limestone floors, full-length shower with strip drain and a lovely picture window leading out to the courtyard.
We have a lovely study area that has been divided off from the family room as we showed you before and this has got plenty of desk storage in it, and behind that central storage unit is the Matrix system that operates all the electronic equipment in the house.
You don’t have to spend a million dollars to get a million-dollar look and we can tailor a budget to suit you. And this type of work, with the rear end extensions is exactly what we do at Dowling Homes and it’s what we can do for you too.
